Budget makeup for your Christmas night out

Since becoming a mum, getting glammed up is a rare occasion. I don't have the time or energy to do a full face of makeup every day and it's just not practical with a 6 month old. So on the rare occasion that I do get to do a full-face look, I like to go all out and really enjoy the process and use products that I don't get to use very often. People often presume that a glam look requires expensive products but it really doesn't. Here are some products that I've personally tried and tested and rely on for a glam makeup look, perfect for your festive girls night out!
Base
I really love glowy skin whether it's day or night, so this primer is perfect for prepping the skin. It's super hydrating and adds a lovely subtle glow underneath your base.

Barry M Glowmance primer - Superdrug - £6.99

For foundation, I like something that's full coverage without looking cakey. I actually prefer both of these to my more expensive foundation. The L'Or√©al one is better for combination or dry skin and the Revlon foundation is perfect for oily skin as it doesn't budge and keeps shine at bay. Both will stay put all night. Perfect for a night of dancing!

L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24 hour Foundation - Superdrug- £10.99

Revlon ColorStay Foundation - Superdrug - £12.99

Concealer
The whole Infallible collection by L'Oreal is so long-lasting and sweat-proof that it's perfect for a night out. This concealer does not budge for anything.

L'Oreal Infallible Longwear Concealer - Superdrug- £9.99

Setting powder

It's important when picking a setting powder that it doesn't have any flashback. If you're using flash photography, it can appear white on your face. This one doesn't have any flashback, is super lightweight but helps keep everything in place.

Maybelline Master Fixer Powder in Translucent - Superdrug- £8.99

Contour
Now I know that contouring can scare a makeup novice off, but it honestly does make such a difference to creating shape to the face and it can be made so much easier by using a contour stick like this one. I normally use a cream contour first then set it in place with a matte bronzer on top. Use this foundation stick in a shade that's a few shades darker than your skin tone to contour. It also adds more coverage with it being a foundation.

Makeup Revolution Fast base foundation in F12 - Superdrug- £5.00

NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium - Superdrug - £8.00

Highlighter
Makeup Revolution do THE BEST Highlighters. I wouldn't buy an expensive one because there's just no need, this palette is perfect for a range of skintones and the formula is amazing.

Makeup Revolution Soph X Highlighter palette - Superdrug - £8.00
Eyeshadow palette
The pigmentation of these palettes are great and they're really easy to blend, even if you haven't quite mastered a smoky eye yet. This one has a perfect mix of Bronze shimmers and mattes that you can use to create a more natural everyday look, or use the darker shades to build up a more glam look for a night out. They come in a range of different colour palettes and for that price, you can afford to buy a few to change up your look!

Makeup Revolution Re-loaded Newtrals 2 palette - Superdrug - £5.00

False eyelashes/Mascara
This is such a throwback for me. I literally used to wear strip lashes every day up until a few years ago. I had eyelash extensions when I was pregnant and they really do make you feel so much more glam. Strip lashes can be intimidating but once you've done it once, you'll have it mastered. These ones from Eyelure are my go-to. They're natural but still add a fluttery and full effect. If lashes aren't your thing, this mascara is perfect for creating a false lash effect without the fuss.

Eylure Volume False Lashes 100- Superdrug- £5.39

L'oreal Lash paradise mascara - Superdrug - £11.99

Lips

For a lip that will last you all night, I love a liquid lipstick. Drink all the cocktails you like, these Rimmel ones don't require a touch up. I love this classic red, especially for Christmas. Or if you prefer a more natural look, this nude gloss is perfect to add a bit shimmer to your look and has a plumping effect to make your lips look fuller.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid lipstick in Firestarter - Superdrug- £6.49

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother pucker Lipgloss in Nudestar - Boots- £9.00
